Kids to Town

Thursday 25th of August will go down in the Yaldhurst School history books for being an incredible day, where Yaldhurst School and Te Pihinga showed off how great they were to Christchurch.

Miss Sutherland and Mrs Spragg were so impressed with how well each member of Te Pihinga conducted themselves on the bus to town, in eating their morning tea outside the Art Gallery and as we waited patiently for our groups to start.

Next you all continued to be amazing as you walked around the Art Gallery looking at all the artwork. Mrs Spragg even got a compliment from one on the employees after her group left the Britten display. The lady was very impressed with how the group sat and listened to John (the fab volunteer who showed the group around).

Then Yaldhurst School performed to the large audience that had gathered. We are pretty sure Mrs T wiped a tear away after watching the junior school perform Tena Koe and It's a Rainbow. It was pretty mind blowing.

Finally you all sat down, ate your lunch and then walked like the Model students you are to the Botanic Gardens. And the photos tell us how much fun it was.

Ka pai tamariki for being so incredible and for showing Christchurch what a HERO school we are!

(And thanks fantastic parents for coming to help!)

  1. Kia ora Te Pihinga,
My name is Tania and I live in Whangarei, that's a LONG way from where you live in Christchurch. I am a teacher too but spend lots of my time working in different schools helping teachers and students just like you with iPads, chromebooks and blogging. The trip you had to the Art Gallery and Botanic Gardens looks like so much fun. I can tell by your photos that you all enjoyed getting out and exploring, both the Art and the trees at the botanic gardens! Looks like there were some sleepy children on the way back to school in the bus. Has the Art Gallery inspired you with any special ideas for art?
    Tania

    1. Hi Tania, it is nice to meet you. Thank you for commenting on our blog. We are excited that you have commented on our blog. We were inspired by the art. We thought we could make a ball with paper like we saw. Like oragami, though the one we saw was made of bronze and covered in black paint. Sam wants to make a statue of himself. We liked how you commented to us. Thanks again for commenting. From Te Pihinga, Iwi 2.
