Girls Soccer
What a great time the Year 3 and 4 girls had going to soccer last week. Mrs S and a couple of wonderful mum's piled girls into their cars and headed to English Park on Cranford Street. Everyone was very excited but also a little unsure about what to expect.
When we arrived we had to wait a little bit so we had some kia and water. Then the lovely people from Mainland Football called us all together to talk about what was to happen. We then lined up into groups of 4 and we were out on the field for some games. We played a game or a skill game. It was hot out on the turf and we had to use lots of energy to run around after the ball. Some of the teams we played were a bit older and had played before, but it didn't matter, we gave it our best.
Soon it was break time and a chance to eat some more lunch and have some much needed water. We listened to the Mainland people talk about their experiences playing soccer and got to ask some questions. One of them had been to the Olympics twice! We were very impressed.
Finally we got to play one final game, have our photo taken and get some posters signed. Amelia got given a t-shirt for trying really hard at something she hadn't done before. What an Open-Minded Explorer she is! Gosh it was fun! (Plus on the way home Mrs S brought us all ice blocks!)
We hope you like the photos.

Digi Awards - We ROCK!
Last night a few families, very excited children and a few YMS teachers headed to the Aurora Centre to a find out what prize we may have won. We were all very excited and a little nervous. We weren't sure what to expect.
Well it was an amazing night.
Tayla - 1st Place in the Art Category (Year 1-3)
Aliz'e, Xavier, Thom and Richie - 1st Place in the Movie Making Category (Year 1-3)
Kade - 1st Place in the Digital Sandpit Category (Year 1-3)
(entry to come!)
We also had wins in Rimu and Te Kakano, what a clever bunch we all are.
Each group received a prize for their hard work.
And at the end of the evening there was a special draw for a Chromebook and guess what?! The 4 boys won it and they have kindly donated it to the school.
Here are some photos from the night:

Ice Skating - Winter Fun Day
What a fantastic time we had on Friday. It had all the things that make a great day; mufti, bus rides, cold and ICE SKATING!
Thanks to all the parents and helpers on the day. We couldn't have had such a great day without you all.
Most of all thanks to all the students for being the best HEROES you can be. We loved watching you get up when you fell down, trying something new, giving it a go, improving a skill, being brave and having fun. We think you are all pretty amazing.

A Special Visitor
On Friday we had a special visit from an old classmate, Tilly! She came in to see us with her new baby brother Reuben. Everyone was very excited to see her. A few of us got to have a cuddle with Reuben.
We showed Tilly all the things we've been doing and because it was raining and lunchtime we got to play inside with her.
We really enjoyed seeing Tilly. She was a wonderful friend and classmate. Whilst we would love to have her back at Yaldhurst we are pleased that Tilly is loving her new school and has made some good friends.
